Feeling the Holy Ghost

kermitchurch
I was online recently, on Facebook, and in one of the groups that I am in, someone posted the above picture.  I could easily become offended, but instead chose to use this type of ignorance as a teaching tool. Christianity is one of, if not THE, most hated and criticized religion in the world.  This is no surprise though, for even the Messiah forewarned us of this:

John 15:20 – “Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.”

We were already warned that we would be persecuted and hated for believing.  That, however, is not the point of this post.  Rather, we want to talk about why the Holy Ghost is not seen outside of church, per this meme.

Actually, the Holy Ghost IS RECEIVED outside of the church! Now, this meme is more likely referring to the display of people dancing around and shouting. While such may be a display of the excitement and power felt during praise in the presence of God, the Holy Spirit is greater and has a larger effect than that.  The primary function of the Holy Ghost is to comfort, teach, and intercede for us.

John 14:26 – But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
Romans 8:26 – Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
The aspect of the Holy Ghost speaking in tongues (which edifies the speaker whereas prophecy edifies the church) and resulting in such excitement as though it feels “like fire” shut up in one’s bones is legitimate though. But the idea that the jumping around and praising in the middle of a department store aisle is a little far fetched.  Why does it primarily happen in church?
  1. God inhabits the praises of His people. (Psalm 22:3). People primarily praise and worship in the church building.  It is a place of safety where believers can feel comfortable praising and letting loose spiritually, just like the nightclub is a place where partyers feel comfortable doing their dancing.
  2. There is a time and place for everything. (Ecclesiastes 8:6)  Everything that we do has a purpose and time. And though we pray without ceasing, and are always in the presence of God, in the general marketplace we let our light shine through our behavior and righteousness.  All things should also be done decently and in order.
  3. An ideal place for worship and praise is at the altar. (Psalm 43:4). The altar represents where sacrifices were held, and in the New Covenant, we are called to give the sacrifice of praise. (Hebrews 13:15).
Overall, the meme is a meme for a reason.  Unfortunately though, many people don’t understand the inaccuracy of such things and believe or agree with anything that crosses their path. For the sake of truth, however, the Holy Ghost is felt by believers in all types of settings. I’ve felt the presence of the Holy Ghost in a room by myself during private worship, as do many others. But… to those who don’t KNOW the Spirit, who don’t KNOW God, they would not understand. But for those who do, enjoy the blessings of His presence wherever you are!

Four Core Health Quadrants

Enjoy the following health tip from our health and fitness ministry, “Fu-Phil-It”

Utilize the Four Core Health Quadrants to maximize your health level.  This is a non-complicated approach and simply involves making small adjustments in the four core areas that affect general health.  These four core areas are:

Walking – Walking daily, which is a very low impact exercise that most people can do, goes a long way in keeping you healthy. Daily walking is extremely helpful in preventing many forms of degenerative disease, and increasing your overall wellness while reducing stress.
Water – Your body is composed primarily of water, and getting enough each day (the number of ounces should be at least half of your body weight) is vital in regulating many of the necessary functions of your body from temperature regulation to weight management to toxin removal.
Sleep – In these fast paced times, the majority of people don’t get enough sleep. Sleep, however, is when the body recovers and rebuilds as a result of all of the activities that occurred during the waking hours. Enough sleep, which is actually restful, keeps the stress levels down as well, which aids in positive results instead of negative impacts.
Food – The easiest thing to say about food is to follow the food chart, and when following the food chart, try to use food that is as natural/organic as possible. The proper balance of food, as found in the food chart, will ensure much more balanced nutrition, which helps the body to function properly.

Focusing on these four simple areas of health are the essential steps for most people to remain healthy for the long run. These areas of health will ensure a healthy body weight, much lower risk of disease, higher energy, less stress, and great overall well-being. So, considering this, don’t wait any longer in taking care of your health! Take care of yourself now so that others won’t have to later.

To your health,

Shadows

I’ve noticed quite a few things about shadows.  For one, if the sun is lower in the sky, and thus farther away, a person’s shadow is longer.  The closer that the sun gets (which is also the higher that it goes and the brighter that it becomes), the smaller that the shadow becomes.  If you could get even closer to the sun and the light is intensified even greater and greater, there will eventually become a point where you no longer see any shadow because the light and its reflections will eventually dispel all of the darkness.

Now think of how this applies to you as a believer…

Yeshuah (Jesus) is the son of God and the Word shines brightly as the sun.  As the light (Word) shines on your life, your shadows (sins, weaknesses, sicknesses, etc. – all elements of darkness) are cast to the ground.  The further you are away in your heart from the Lord, the more darkness is in your life, and the larger of a “shadow” that is cast to the ground when exposed to “the light.”

Isaiah 60:19 – The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory.

The closer you get to the light, however, and the higher you seek it (even to the point where you are completely submitted beneath it, fully exposed by it, with nowhere to hide), the smaller and smaller of a dark shadow you cast.  In fact, you can get to the point where the only possibly shadow left is that which is hidden under your feet.

Romans 16:20 – And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

So seek the Lord diligently.  Let there be no more room for anything to be hidden.  Let there be nothing left to be cast down.  Be in His presence.  Peace be unto you!

Bless you!

Street Life or True Life

Stop running the streets! A grown man should not be running any streets other than to get into shape.

If you are the age of a man, but still doing the same knucklehead stuff you did as a teenager… as your WAY OF LIFE, then somehow you have become stuck in transition. The Messiah said “I am the WAY, TRUTH, and LIFE…” and any other way is self destruction.

If you started hanging in the streets as a teenager, when do you grow up and start living at home, building a home, raising a family, establishing a career, etc., as is the way of a man? As the divine scripture says, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. (1 Cor 13:11)”

Being a man is a place of responsibility, a place of authority! Yet, having never submitted to authority, you won’t know how to properly act in authority or be a proper EXAMPLE of authority. As proper authority is about order, respect, honor, and not the childish behaviors of intimidation, rebellion, and hostility.

Yet, despite the confusion in your life, God can complete your transition. He is the ultimate Father. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” He will help make you into the man whom He destined you to be, greater than any you would’ve ever been able to be on your own.

All it takes is your faith, trust, and for you to follow His ways, and you shall lead in yours. Choose this day who you will serve: the streets as a boy leading to destruction, or God as a man into life more abundantly?

Speak, Believe, and Receive

As we celebrate the month of March, known in the Western society for St. Patrick’s Day, I want to take a moment to bless you with the words that luck has nothing to do with it! Yes, we live in a time and place where things like “get rich quick” schemes, microwave mentalities, and instant gratification plague the masses. We can so easily get caught up in wishing for luck to overcome our deficits as we become engulfed in our surroundings. But God has provided us a better way… one that is assured and where luck has nothing to do with it.

Faith!!! Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1). God’s way is not a way of luck or chance, but a way of assurance as a result of obedience. When the soldier was healed by Jesus simply saying a Word, the request was granted because of the understanding of how obedience grants use of authority. (Matt. 8-9). And God established by His own example in the beginning, that the authority of the Word produces manifestation. The key, though, is not simply saying things, but saying things using the authority that you have been granted through obedience to the supreme authority.

This example was also established by Jesus/Yeshua. Before He began His public ministry, He fasted for forty days and nights (bringing his vessel into obedience), was baptized (publicly recognized under God’s authority), and then proceeded forth with power. The difference between Him and so many of us, however, is that He only spoke faith. We, on the other hand, almost always speak doubt shortly after declaring faith. Once Jesus stated His faith, such as with cursing the fig tree that produced no fruit (Mark 11:21), He did not continue with “vain repetitions” as in doubt, but stated it and left it, BELIEVING it would be done, and it occurred. He also did not go around speaking negativity into existence, as most of us never speak enough positive into our lives to outweigh the negative we have manifested.

God has absolutely NO PROBLEM with blessing us beyond our wildest dreams, and actually delights in our success and wealth, for the Bible states that it is He who “gives us the power to get wealth.” (Deut 8:18). The problem is when we don’t first acknowledge or submit to Him, and then don’t trust that it shall be done once we do. But if we shall only learn to be obedient and then control our words/declarations, then believe, we shall become open to receive solutions to any of our obstacles and the answers to all of our needs. On that note, remember to SPEAK, BELIEVE, and RECEIVE!

Powers or Power

There have been many movies over the last couple of years that are adaptations of comic books, in which people have or develop super powers and become superheroes. Likewise, this has also spread over to television shows and the like. Normally when a person is watching these shows, as one of the attractions to this genre, the “audience” members envision what it would be like if they had such powers, and what they would do if they did.

To that idea, I ask a rhetorical question. If you, on today, received superpowers (such as the Green Lantern’s ability to create anything he can imagine or the telekinetic ability to move things with your mind), what are the first few things that come to your mind that you would do with them? This is rhetorical, so be truly honest with yourself.

Some of you may truthfully answer that you’d use it to help mankind in some way or another… Others will say they’d use it to help mankind, but the first thought that comes to mind is using the power to steal money, abuse power, or get some sort of enjoyment from an area of lust. This is where the lesson is centered, for what you’d do if you had full access to do anything is what is really in your heart.

It is important for us to protect our heart, for in Proverbs 4:23 it states “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.” Our heart reveals our true character, as scripture declares in Luke 6:45 that “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.”

This is actually one of the biggest problems with “church folk,” that though they put this great facade on every Sunday about how holy they are, their hearts remain corrupt, and it shows whenever the pressure is on. This is also why many never grow in the blessings of God, because it is out of the heart that the issues (good or bad) flow, so really what is being manifested in our lives is dependent on what is brewing on the inside. We talk about wanting prosperity, strength, and security in our lives, but in our hearts is weakness, corruption, and fear, and those things are what are then produced in our lives… a life of misery.

All hope is not lost though; but we do have to start changing that which is in our heart, and that can be done by the Word of God. We renew our mind with the Word of God. Our heart is filled with that which we allow in. We spend our lives hearing and being taught by negative advice and experiences, and this beccomes the abundance of our hearts, which continues to cultivate and reproduce more of itself. We have to learn to block out all of the anti-Christ, anti-faith, anti-success, failure-minded, fear-minded ideas that are constantly bombarding us and SUBMERGE ourselves in God’s Word and wisdom. As we continue to do this, and increase our awareness and control about what we are professing over ourselves (the negativity) then replace it with Godly wisdom, the abundance of our heart will soon start changing. It’s what you put into your heart (via your eyes, ears, and your own self prophetic words) that fills your heart. As you gain discipline over these gates to your heart and the abundance of your heart changes, so shall the life you live and issues thereof that flow out if it. You have to change your heart though.

Until now, your idea of power has more consumed with the fantasy powers that would come from an external source. Sure, if they were real, they would surely be powerful in a physical way. The real power, however, is formulated deep within the inner man (the temple of God) in the heart, and this power, truly is more capable of producing greater or worse things than any superpowers you could imagine. It is vital that we understand that superpowers are of no match to the true power that exists within, as this internal power, from our heart, truly controls all of the issues that life has to offer. Get the heart in check, and all of the superpowers that you can imagine, can be produced by the power of the heart within. Bless you!
